In violent crime, Nunavut is the national champion
Territory leads Canada in severity of criminal violence
In July of 2010 Statistics Canada confirms that crime, especially violent crime, is getting worse in Nunavut . Nunavut has jumped ahead of the Northwest Territories (population 43 000) and now owns the highest overall crime rate in Canada . The per capita crime rate in Nunavut is still three times higher than in Canada, says the StasCan report which annually surveys all criminal incidents reported to Canadian police services. And, based on a new measurement, the crime severity index, Nunavut’s even worse, especially for violent crimes.
With in the past 3 weeks, there have been two homicides in Cape Dorset by shooting; and Oct 13/2010 two 9th graders were firing off shots in the community and at houses!

I am so frustrated with all that is lacking in the territory and its communities to create educational, successful people.
I am angry and totally fed up with alcohol and drug abusers, especially the people who take advantage of the lives of others.
What will it take for people to realize that everyone has an important role in their families, community and territory. It is unacceptable for people to continue to go on living their lives like another number in the population of Nunavut , All people of Nunavut should be contributing, active and have strong community involvement to see success in reducing crime.
